Crafty Creations Challenge
Today's challenge is cake and ice cream. Since I needed a wedding card, I opted to do something with a cake. The die cut is from Martha Stewart and so is the punch. Our sponsor is the sweet Hope Jacare Doodles. She sells her cute digi stamps at Stictchy Bear Stamps. For deets and inspiration, please visit the Crafty Creations Blog.

Saturday
I've been on a Mocha Frappe kick since McDonald's started selling them. Since I'd rather spend my daily $2.49 on all things crafty, I've been on the hunt for the perfect mocha frappe recipe to make at home. This recipe card details the first one I tested. Let's just say, I like the card better than the recipe. Found one by Paula Dean and it's much better. Only problem, I can't get the coffee flavor to come through the mocha. I guess I need to make it stronger. Does anyone out there have a mocha frappe recipe for me to test?? Little Mr. Sunshine is from Eat Cake Graphics.

Tuesday
I made this for a challenge over at the SSC. They have a great tutorial on how to make this flower. I "refurbished" the gable box from an earlier project because I wasn't happy with it. It looks a lot better with the flower! I think I hear a familiar little voice inside me...she's back....My Inner Self is gently reminding me that my daughter and the grandbabies arrive for a visit on Friday!!! I completed cards for my blog through next Monday... I told her not to worry...
P.S. Janet Evanovich's latest book comes out today!!!
Sizzling Sixteen!!! Her books are hilarious!!! I'm talking stupid funny!!!

A Simply Silver Moment

I had another Simply Silver Moment today. I took my grandson to the Dollar Tree to buy some cheap toys. While I was there, I flashed back to my childhood. You are looking at one of my favorite spots. The Tremont 5 and 10 was a paradise for a kid. For 10 cents, you got a bag filled with candy from the candy counter. I loved browsing through the store. Notice the bike parked out in the front of the store. You could leave your bike without the fear of it being stolen. Summers were long and hot because air conditioning was rare. We played outside from dawn to dusk and techno stuff hadn't been invented, yet. It was a simpler time.

Just a quick post today. I used digital masking to combine two images for this card. I'll be posting the how to details on my other blog. The flowers are a rubber stamp from Eat Cake Graphics and the basket is a digi from DZ Doodles.
I'm blogging from my new iPad. It's a new learning experience for me.

Birthday Card
I've been forcing myself to try different flower techniques. This one is made of felt. I found a Martha Stewart kit (thought I did it all by myself...ha) at the Big Lots. (Found a ton of Martha Stewart stuff at really cheap prices!) Put it together in about 30 seconds. Now, that's my kind of creating...The card took a little longer. The sentiment and die cut are from Papertrey Ink. You are also looking at a Martha Stewart Punch. No, I didn't get it at Big Lots...

Road Trip
My stamps from Eat Cake Graphics arrived today! Just had to play with one. You know, it’s hard to find a good old fashion road map in this day and age. Everyone has gone to the GPS. I find a map to be a lot more satisfying… I think I may have cut-up the last map in this household…
Challenges:
Stampin' for the Weekend- summer travel theme
Stamp, Scrap, and Doodle Saturday- red, white, and blue
Raise the Bar- Celebrate Summer
To Cheer You…
When I upload the picture of this card, I realized the flower had shifted. Just imagine that it has several layers of petals. I know...but, I'm just too tired to redo. Have mercy... I love this S2G image! When I was a little girl, my neighbor had a little french poodle. She always had her dog's toenails painted. If you look real close, you'll see painted toenails on the cute lttle pooch. Another flower for my I Love a Challenge Blog.

Guest Designer for the Creative Belli Challenge
Robin, from the Creative Belli Challenge, sent me an invitation to be the guest designer for their current challenge. What a great surprise! Of course, I accepted. The challenge involves a sketch and the use of flat embellishements. Since I'm the queen of ribbon and bows, it was a difficult challenge for me. Difficult challenges push the envelope, and I think that's a good thing. You can go to my other blog (I Love a Challenge) to learn more about how to make the cute little flat flower embellishment. Also, make sure you go to the Creative Belli Blog and enter the current challenge. You'll find the deets and great inspiration at the blog. Thanks Creative Belli for putting me in the spotlight! You made my day!!

Simply Silver Moment
What is a Simply Silver Moment? It’s when you are reluctantly standing at the threshold of the Golden Years and can no longer do something that you used to be able to do. This moment happened to me a little over a week ago when I attended a young friend's wedding. I bought a new pair of shoes for the occasion. They were comfortable, stylish, and affordable. It’s the one in the picture. The only problem…I couldn’t walk in them. When did not being able to walk in three inch heels happen? I used to wear heels…that’s a Simply Silver Moment. Walking down the stairs was like scaling Mt. Everest. I wobbled through the reception like I had a little too much champagne. It was not pretty…Will I wear them again? Do I want to cross over that threshold to the Golden Years? …I think I'll be wearing them again...
